"Hi there,"
For this project, I collaborated with Bellevue College's Student Success and Retention Office to create a pair of videos explaining success coaching and the appointment's benefits for students.

Final Videos
Outlining the creative process
Step 1: Storyboarding
The first step in this project began with connecting with a success coach--Greyson-- and creating a script.
Greyson created a script outlining what he wanted the video to look like, including brief descriptions of what characters should be doing during his narration.
Afterwards, he recorded himself reading the script so I could use the audio in the video.
Step 2: Creating Visuals
Once our foundation was set, the script and audio, I began working on illustrations.
My main priority was creating an animated character of Greyson. Since he was going to guide the viewer throughout both videos, I wanted to make sure his character was nice to look at without being too difficult to animate.
Once Greyson was completed, I repeated the same process with additional characters and props; start with a sketch, create in illustrator, and animate in After Effects.
Step 3: Animating
This project marked the second time I'd ever animated a character and lip-synced to audio. During this process I watched countless YouTube tutorials from other motion designers and animators on how they approach character in animation with After Effects, but in the end, I ended up finding a process that worked for me.
I found that keeping the character animations simple and capable of looping helped speed up the workflow process. My most complicated character, Greyson, had the capability to wiggle his eyebrows and move his eyes, which I only utilized for one section of the video because I realized that it wasn't necessary to animate them every scene.
Thank you for joining me in my walkthrough process for creating this special project for Bellevue College.
Bye!
